I enjoy reading Greek mythology, and this gripping book flew by in 3 days (fast in my slow reading terms). It’s about Achilles and Patroclus – Achilles is the Greek hero we all know, but lesser known is his faithful soulmate, Patroclus. The book is written from Patroclus’s perspective and it depicts his life and how it intertwines with Achilles. Their bond is stronger than Achilles’ god given strength, not just as lovers but more importantly as partners. It follows them to their fated deaths at the Trojan War.
I personally enjoyed the first half of the book more, when they were still young and creating a strong bond with each other. The latter half of the book is focused on their lives at the Trojan War which lasts ~10 years.
I don’t quite agree on how Thetis, Achilles’ mom, was portrayed. But I’m glad the ending revealed more.
Also, yes, I hate Pyrrhus too, he’s just a dick.
