A 35 year old woman with numerous opportunities to be “successful” finds herself regretting not pursuing any of them. She could’ve been an Olympic swimmer, a glaciologist, a pop star singer, or a philosophy phD, but finds herself stuck at a minimum wage job in a guitar store in her dreary hometown. She dips into depression and attempts to commit suicide – that’s when she enters the Midnight Library and all the fun begins!
- A great book about life, decisions, opportunities, parallel universes, and regret
- Cool how “updated” it is, there’s tiny references about smart phones, emojis, and even Billie Eilish
- At times the plot is predictable, but I think that’s fine because the point is the lessons she learns and not what happens
- Best part is the protagonist’s post on her thoughts near the end of the book imo
- I like the idea/concept of a Midnight Library
- The same mundane life can be either shtty or amazing, it’s all up to your perspective of how you view it. And your perspective will influence how you feel about it, which will influence your actions and decisions. If you want an “amazing” life, start now and work on it!
