The Last Lecture

A great read! Randy Pausch is a well-established Computer Science professor at CMU. But also a down to earth, energetic, fun ball of life. He’s diagnosed with terminal cancer and decides to share with the world some lessons he’s learned.

He’s taught me how to chase my dreams, support others, and live a fruitful life. To not take everything so seriously but to always work the hardest. To always have fun, and to always be grateful. He was an amazing husband and father. It was refreshing to read about a nerdy guy from my field be such a cool person.

  • A super easy and quick read – a compilation of little lessons Dr. Pausch has learned, each one is maybe 3-4 pages so its a nice bitesize to read in any time pocket
  • Written in a very light hearted, chill tone. It sounds like he’s just casually talking to you and sharing his experiences to you
  • Some lessons/stories will make you laugh out loud, some will make you cry, and some will make you jot down notes
  • I would definitely invest in the physical book, it’s cute and small and a staple in your house
  • I would reread this book anytime!

I would recommend you watch Dr. Pausch’s Last Lecture recording on Youtube AFTER reading the book. He talks about it in the book from his perspective, and it’s the most heart warming thing ever – you might need tissues.
