In September 2021, my YouTube account died, and all my subscriptions from 2012 disappeared into the void. Ever since, I’ve been living in denial hoping that one day I’ll wake up and it’ll be back. But in the meantime, I’ve been searching up the YouTube channels that I particularly like on incognito. So here’s a recommendation list of YouTube channels to check out now!
It’s a long list, definitely something for everyone! Lifestyle, fashion, engineering, food, books, finance, memes, tech, architecture, history, wisdom, and more.

Wisdom
- Nathaniel Drew
- A self-taught multilingual slow traveler, filmmaker, and curious soul of life.
- The way he films and edits his videos are very professional and fluid for the audience to see beautiful imagery as well as comprehend the message his portraying. His brother also does cool graphics that are amazing!
- I particularly enjoy his videos on languages/language learning and thoughts on life/living intentionally.
- Ryan Holiday/Daily Stoic
- An author, stoic philosopher, and educator of Stoicism.
- His videos are very educational on Stoic philosophy and how you can practice it in your day to day to better your life.
- Lana Blakely
- Based in Stockholm, talks about anything related to life, relationships, introvertedness, etc. Calm, minimalistic aesthetic.
Finance
- Nate O’Brien
- An investor, entrepreneur, and eager to learn more of the finance world while still begin a simple guy.
- I particularly enjoy his videos on finance, side hustle ideas, and books.
- Ali Abdaal
- A UK-based doctor, entrepreneur, and productivity guru.
- I particularly enjoy his videos on productivity using Notion and other systems, studying/study tips, and how to make money online.
Books
- Sunbeamjess
- A UK-based English literature genius. She is the epitome of a lover, reader, and critic of English literature.
- I particularly enjoy her videos on book reviews, she hasn’t done them much recently since becoming a mum, but her old ones are still immaculate. She really understands themes, motifs, character development, world-making, plot-pacing, etc from her English literature degrees (bachelors and masters) and from the thousands of books she’s read. This allows her book critiques to be incredibly tasteful and wise. Also she mainly reads fiction books.
- Jack Edwards
- A UK-based English literature alumni of Durham University, book lover, and super funny guy.
- I particularly enjoy his videos on book reviews for fun categories he’s thought of, for example books celebrities have recommended. His critiques on books are also great but the best part is his very vibrant, energetic personality saying hilarious jokes every two seconds. He really makes reading seem fun.
- John Fish
- A Montreal Canadian creator and Varsity runner studying Computer Science and Psychology at Harvard University. He’s consistently ranked number 1 in his classes, he’s on Harvard’s Track and Field/Cross Country teams, and overall just a pretty cool, intelligent dude.
- I particularly enjoy his videos on books, he reads a wide range of genres from fiction and fantasy to non fiction productivity, psychology, finance, and science books.
Lifestyle/Fashion
- Sarah’s Day
- Vibrant, energetic, and down-to-earth Aussie gal who promotes a healthy “listen-to-your-body” lifestyle. She’s a mum of 2 (2nd one is on its way) and a founder of 3 companies. She posts fun lifestyle vlogs, has a cooking app (and soon to be cookbook), and a podcast with her husband where they discuss all things health, food, wellness, and exercise.
- Jenn Im
- Fashion beauty vlogger Korean-American who started out posting fashion videos in uni but has come a long way now. Creating her own fashion brand, travelling the world, attending fashion shows, and now, becoming a new mom! But what I like most about her isn’t the glam, but it’s when she shares how she deals with her anxiety, her book reviews, her Asian American background, and lifestyle vlogs.
- Negin Mirsalehi
- Fashion beauty blogger/vlogger from the Netherlands with Persian roots who founded an extremely successful self-funded hair-care brand Gisou. She has a masters degree in law but decided to pursue fashion afterwards, growing her audience on her blog and getting invited to big Fashion Weeks. She is a gorgeous lady with a big brain and a solid entrepreneurship attitude.
- Wiam Bouziane
- A lovely lady from Morocco based in Montreal who discusses fashion trends and tips. She has a vast understanding of the history of fashion and how to pair things together with more logic and formulaic descriptions. She makes you understand the importance of quality instead of just fashion as “pretty things”. She also recommends many great fashion gurus on Youtube, Instagram, magazines, and documentaries.
- Valeria Lipovetsky
- Fashion beauty vlogger Israeli-Russian based in Toronto (though they are now in Florida for a long while). She’s a mom of 3 boys and a strong entrepreneur growing her jewelry and clothing brand Verie (previously Leia). She’s a very funny, down-to-earth woman in the fashion industry, and also an avid reader. She’s been through a tough childhood with her single mom being immigrants, so it’s very encouraging to see how she’s able to be successful now.
- Emitaz
- Fashion and lifestyle vlogger Swedish Sri-Lankan based in Barcelona. Her lifestyle vlogs are very cozy to watch, always starting with her natural 5am wake up time. Her style is very classic and timeless, which led to her creating a new fashion brand Le Capsole that sells limited select high quality, classic, timeless, and sustainable garments.
- Jess and Gabriel, Jess Conte
- Cute Christian couple who overcame long distance (Jess is from Australia, Gabriel is from the US). Their vlogs are fun, cute, and casual. A good pick-me-up. Jess also makes soothing homey videos on her channel.
- Claudia Sulewski
- Fashion lifestyle vlogger with Turkish roots based in LA. Love the way she edits her videos, it’s so smooth and streamline, very enjoyable.
- Tess Christine
- Fashion lifestyle vlogger based in New York, has the funniest group of girlfriends (the videos they have together are the best), works on her new fashion clothing company alongside her newborn baby. Used to have a lot of great travel videos too (pre COVID).
Education
- TED Ed
- Easy to understand, fun, animated videos on educational topics – health, history, science, etc. Really enjoyed their series on Greek mythology!
- Neetcode
- Leetcode GOD! His explanations on Leetcode questions has been saving my life. Bless him <3
- Veritasium*
- Interesting and well documented science videos with sources listed in description and little bias, all packed in a easy to understand package. The channel does not go into university-level understanding, but gives historic overviews as well as conceptual explanations.
- Thoughty Two*
- Funny, click-baity folk lore and history channel with witty comments and immersive storytelling.
- Sam Onella*
- Please come home, I miss you so much. Arguably the best content on youtube and even the internet.
- ‘Tarrare, the Hungriest Man in History’ is probably the funniest video I have seen on YouTube.
- Real Life Lore*
- Factual videos about current or historic events and how they affect(ed) the word. Many videos about on geography and country borders.
- Not just bikes*
- Interesting city-planning videos about sustainable city designs with higher living standards and smaller climate impact. Big focus on comparing Dutch/European and American/Canadian cities and various design aspects – obviously often bike-related, but also topics such as zoning and how to fix poor city design.
- Vox*
- Up to date (and historic) news from around the world. With little bias and good editing it gives a good insight into current conflicts and politics.
- Climate Town*
- Super funny, factual videos on climate. Videos about automotive-, gas-, clothing industries and city planning. Has quickly become one of my favourite youtube channels (since Sam left us)
- * are top recommended by Magnus
Fun
- Daily Dose of Internet
- Compilations of the recent best memes/videos on the internet. Good stuff.
Food
- PickUpLimes
- Easy to make vegan, plant-based recipes. Sadia has the kindest, calmest voice, and her kitchen set up with vines hanging everywhere is such a dream. She has Afghan roots, her family immigrated to Canada, she actually studied at my Alma Mater (I feel connected to her!!!), worked as a dietician in a local hospital in Vancouver for a while, and now is based in Amsterdam with her fiancé, Robin, working on PuL full time!
- Great aesthetics, filmography, transitions, presentation.
- 小高姐
- Chinese woman making delicious Asian dishes! This is where I go for Asian food inspirations. Don’t worry about her speaking in Chinese, there’s always English subtitles and English ingredients that match perfectly.
- Great aesthetics and presentation.
